  • Anonymous asked: Given how now comics are released around the world faster than before (panini is just 3 or 4 months behind with some series in Europe) and comixology is global for those who know english, do you take into account international sales?

    brevoortformspring:

On Comixology, yes. Through Panini, no, not really. It’s all a question as to how those sales impact on our bottom line. Comixology sales are effectively direct Marvel sales, no different whether you’re in the US or anywhere else in the world that they reach. But books sold through our assorted publishing partners across the globe are licensed, so they don’t earn back or account in the same manner. Effectively, Marvel makes far less on them—most of those publishing licenses are for broad swaths of titles or series at a set amount or percentage, especially given that due to the needs and requirements of different global markets, different publishers will bundle and combine that material in ways that we don’t or haven’t.
